Breathe

left: Drew, right: Dane
We can, finally. The boys literally. Me figuratively.

The last few weeks have been nuts. Three weeks ago today I thought that Drew was having an ear infection relapse. I took him to the doctor for more antibiotics only to be told that I needed to drive to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and not to pass go or collect my $200. This began what would become a 2 week stint in the hospital. We went to the ER 4 times - twice with Drew, twice with Dane. Drew's inpatient stay was 5 days, Dane's 3. This week we've been to the doctor twice for follow ups. Drew is good to go, yesterday Dane got a "B." I'll take it, gratefully.

All this thanks to a virus called RSV. Not such a big deal once you're about 6 months old. A big deal when all you can do is lie there.

Many thanks to the family and friends who took loving care of Caden and Claire during this whole mess. You know who you are.

Many thanks to those of you who called, e-mailed, texted, prayed, and just wanted to help, even if I wouldn't let you do anything. You are much appreciated.

We are so glad it's spring...and by the way, the boys are now 3 months old and weighing in at around 14 pounds each.

Twitter

One of my few accomplishments over the last few weeks was to catch up on all the computer things I've wanted to check out. One of these things was Twitter.

I don't get it. For so many reasons...

In order to see what it is all about I had to set up an account. In case you want to "tweet" me or "follow" me my name (I guess this is what it's called) is @alrwalker. What does that mean? Why the @ in front of the name?

In less than an hour of signing up "Simon Bosely" was following me. Then I figured out that I could enable the accept or decline followers feature. Enabled. Since then Eva, Elroy and Flora have asked to follow me. I have also figured out that these "people" are really just spam and their tweets are newsreels.

I feel like I am learning and speaking a foreign language.

I am following 4 people (or entities): Regis and Kelly, Ellen, Martha Stewart, and Anderson Cooper. Most of their tweets are links to their websites and/or blogs. The only person who actually writes her own stuff is Kelly Ripa and honestly it kind of makes me feel like a stalker.

I'm thinking that this Twitter phase will not last long. I am going to keep the account until I get a new cell phone only because one can somehow set up the Twitter stuff onto the cell phone. And (gasp) I'm going to get a texting package on my new phone.

I know, pick your jaws up off the floor. I kinda like the texting thing. Maybe Twitter will be next.
Until then - Tweet me!

Top 10 List

In honor of our 2nd visit to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in as many weeks:
(This time Dane is sick - same RSV)

Top 10 Reasons VUMC is like vacationing at a spa:
10. Friendly staff
9. Room with a view...
8. ...if you can get a room - there's a waiting list
7. Being lulled to sleep by the soothing sounds of LifeFlight
6. Free wireless
5. People to wait on my children hand and foot (and by wait on I mean suction, rectal temps, IV's, blood pressure, etc)
4. Valet parking
3. Ben and Jerry's in the food court
2. Room service menu - they bring me 3 squares a day.
1. Bang for your buck - probably could've paid for college by now. Can't wait to see the bill.

Now all I'm missing is a manicure, pedicure and massage and I'll have it made!
